Yow! Check out this summer’s contenders by Paris Hilton, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Hicks, Peaches and more…

Youthography’s Top Picks for June, 2006

Stars are blind – Paris Hilton – Paris – Heiress Records/Warner
After two years of working on her debut album, “Stars are Blind” is the fruit of hotel heiress Paris Hilton’s (and her multitude of producers) labours. While we won’t waste our time commenting on the musical integrity of the single – the song, a blend of reggae and pop, will no doubt be played everywhere you go this summer. Could it be undeniably horrible and catchy at the same time? Yes, and we predict, by those two factors alone, that it will be 2006’s big song of the summer.

Do I Make You Proud? – Taylor Hicks - RCA
We at Youthography love the cheese – and apparently so do those that voted Taylor Hicks as their new American Idol last month. So Taylor’s gone ahead and made himself a hit single called “Do I Make You Proud?” This particularly sappy song is sure to be 2006’s hallmark song of the year playing at graduations, weddings, funerals, you name it! Even people online are pairing it to homemade tribute videos…We found this particular gem on Youtube made by a very emotional Harry Potter fan. Enjoy..

Downtown – Peaches – Impeach My Bush – XL Recordings
For those rockin’ out of the mainstream, indie iPods across the nation will be bopping to the newest synch-punk-pop-rap album by Peaches. Yes, the teaches of Peaches are back once again with her newest album Impeach My Bush. We love her gender-bending tunes (and hilariously naughty song titles) like “Slippery Dick” and “Rock the Shocker,” but what we really love is her first single “Downtown.” Don’t be afraid, give it a listen!
