Welcome to Playlist, Youthography’s newest monthly offering that features high rotation music that we think are important indicators of contemporary youth culture. We have lots of little musical surprises to brighten your playlist this month…and just in time too given all the snow, wind, rain and sleet…oh, and winter hasn’t even started yet? Great.

Due to the timeliness of these articles, some of these links will expire quickly. We therefore recommend accessing them immediately before they disappear!

Youthography’s Top Picks for November 2007

My Hot Hot Sex – CCS (Cansei de Ser Sexy, Sub Pop)
"My music is where I'd like you to touch." There isn't a jingle writer alive who could come up with a better catchphrase for Apple's iPod Touch. An 18-year old UK student named Nick Haley picked up on this and made his own ad for the product for fun (yes, you heard that right) and then posted it to YouTube. Apple caught wind of it, realized how well it worked, contacted Haley, and created their own slightly modified version of the same spot, which apparently ran during the World Series.

Black Mags – Cool Kids (The Bake Sale, C.A.K.E Chocolate Industries)
Brand new but old skool, the Cool Kids are bringing back the cool that once was. From Chicago, Chuck and Mikey are the new duo on the street. Rolling Stone compares these guys to Erik B and EPMD of the 1980’s. More importantly they are the breath of fresh air the rap industry needs since it’s been saturated by bling bling-lit’em up gangsta rappers. “Black mag” is a wickedly simplistic rap track ‘bout bmx-ing down the street, an activity that is accessible to all since they claim “everyone rides bikes” (but currently only for the adventurous since Canada is experiencing wind-chills and black-ice). No matter - close your eyes and image the sunshine, sprinklers, and hotties that be hanging out – peddle it.

Sensual Seduction – Snoop Dogg (Ego Trippin’, Universal)

Speaking of the decline of bling rappers, you must see the Dogfather’s newest image makeover in his new video “Sensual Seduction” which released earlier this week. Snoop D, O, double G is actually singing …with a talk-box AND a keyboard guitar – it’s all too deliciously much! Snoop Dogg becomes the original pimp and we love the break away to from all those b*tches and ho’s back to the good ol’ fashioned l.o.v.e.
