Play List, Youthography’s monthly offering features high rotation music we think are important indicators of contemporary youth culture. At the end of each month, look for our list of popular songs to give you a snapshot of this. It’s the end of Rocktober, so why not finish up with some killer tunes! We have new exclusives from Gwen Stefani and old favourites from Michael Jackson and NWA. Check out this month’s Play List for all the highlights.

Youthography’s Top Picks for October 2006

Thriller – Michael Jackson (Thriller, Epic)
Happy Halloween! Whether you’re dressed as a princess, a vampire or a corporate pusher, today’s the day to eat some candy (don’t think about the calories adding up), toilet-paper your bosses car (those damn kids) and listen to this song over and over again. Only Halloween can make Michael Jackson cool again, but if 13 minutes and 33 seconds of Jacko is not your flavour why not try a twist?

Who Cares? – Gnarls Barkley (St. Elsewhere, Atlantic)
Did you ever think that Count Dracula was just misunderstood? He has needs just like you and you and you. Can a brother get a drink of blood up in the place? When Gnarls Barkley meets Bram Stoker meets Blaxploitation it means a great Hallows Eve video for your viewing pleasure.

I Think of You - Gregory Charles (I Think of You, Sony Music Canada)
Here’s something we bet you didn’t know. What Canadian has sold nearly 110,000 copies of his debut album, which is twice that of the sales Justin Timberlake raked in nearly a month ago? This guy! His name is Gregory Charles and almost all his album sales were sold inside Quebec. If that doesn’t make you stop and think about French-English Canadian cultural differences maybe this will. Of all the top selling Canadian records this year in Canada, three were from artists you've only heard of if you live in Quebec.
